Joe Hiles
Promoting his serial killer websites and marketplaces for macabre merchandise. Fascination with murder isn't an internet phenomenon, though the web helps people find each other. Jean Murley, a professor at Queensborough Community College, wrote her Ph.D. dissertation on true crime novels, and says the books are just a step away from murderabilia -- if that.

John Safran
Re: John Safran vs God DVD. Australian documentarian and media personality, well known for pranks and indelicate handling of controversial issues. August 2004, he debuted his new show John Safran vs God, also on the SBS television network. The first seven episodes were typical Safran informative satire, but the series' finale was something else. It featured John being exorcised of demons which had allegedly possessed him during his dabblings with world religions. The exorcism was performed by well known Christian fundamentalist Bob Larson. It was widely criticized as being fake.

Kim Reierson
Author, "Eighteen: A look at the Culture That Moves Us". Reierson encountered both the trucker lifestyle and photography early in life. She never knew him very well, and after her parents divorced when she was in college, she stopped speaking to him. He never knew she was working on the book. Her obsession with truck driving didn’t take root until after Sept. 11, when she drove from New York City to Santa Barbara, Calif., to meet her mom. She traveled through more than 20 different states in five years and shares what she discovered about trucker culture with the world through this book of photography

Mark Schuette
Creator of a dog-powered scooter from Bend OR. A great way to get around town if you have a dog and are too lazy to walk it. Pooch gets strapped into a cradle contraption on the side and then you give a few kicks (to the scooter, not the dog) and you're off.

Playing dead might just be the reason 14-year-old Chris Malasics is still alive. He was camping with his troop in Hickory Run State Park in Pennsylvania three weeks ago when a bear invited himself into the boy's tent late at night. Marcelle Shriver
Sometimes it's the simplest ideas that can save lives. The 57 year old Stratford, New Jersey mother is organizing a drive to send cans of Silly String to Iraq. American troops use the stuff to detect trip wires around bombs, as Marcelle Shriver learned from her 28 year old son, Todd, a soldier in Iraq. Before entering a building, troops squirt the plastic goo, which can shoot strands about 10 to 12 feet, across the room. If it falls to the ground, no trip wires. If it hangs in the air, they know they have a problem. The wires are otherwise nearly invisible. Donations of Silly String or other similar products and money to help defray costs. Checks can be made out to Marcelle Shriver and sent to St. Luke's Church, 55 Warwick Rd., Stratford, N.J. 08084.

Liz Patterson
Re: Idaho Falls "Phantom Pooper". One local neighborhood can barely breath because of a disgusting stench in the air. A phantom pooper is taking a squat in the back of one Idaho Falls neighborhood. The city has gotten so many calls about the phantom pooper that they've set up a pooper stake out to see if they could catch him doing his business. His preferential place to leave a log is under the Lindsey Boulevard Overpass and fancies himself a Rembrandt. Dazzling abstract expressionist fingerpaintings are the phantom's distinct calling card, executed with a limited brownish palette.
